I asked my students to write their own story for the above picture and one student's story in particular cracked me up. I edited it for clarity and grammar, but the humor is all hers.

*Emergency! Emergency!*
(in robot voice)

Bob: What? what IS THIS!!
Alice: OH MY GOD! They're OCTOPUSES!!
Octopus: We are octopuses!
Bob: Yes, we know that.
Alice: Bob!! Don't interrupt them.
Bob: Sorry, Alice.
Octopus: Ummm...so...we came to invade Japan.
Alice: Look! There's a red octopus!! It looks delicious. I want to eat it!! Oh! I want…I like octopus very much!
Bob: I thought you hated octopus?
Alice: No way!! I love it. But I hate cuttlefish. Their eyes irritate me.
Bob: Oh, its cuttlefish that you don't like...sorry.
Alice: You should really get to know me better!!
Bob: Yeah, you're right...
Octopus: People are terrible!! I...I...I am...who am I???

The octopus lost his confidence and went home with Bob and Alice....
